There are models that can mop and charge themselves this is an option important for families with pets or children. Many of the top performers in our tests also offer decent obstacle-avoiding capabilities.
1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO
The i3+ EVO is identical to its sibling, the i3 EVO. They differ only in the fact that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. That makes the i3+ an excellent option for those looking for a hands-off, fully automated cleaning experience, but don't mind taking the time to empty their robot's trash bin as it gets full.
Both robots are adept at picking up surface debris on hard floors and carpets, and they are very good in moving around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home that help the i3+ EVO to navigate and clean in a way that maximizes efficiency. The i3+ does not have the same obstacle avoidance capabilities as the i7+ or other top-rated robots we tested. It could get stuck on power cords or socks and have difficulty navigating between different surfaces like hardwood and rug.
iRobot recommends that you tidy up the area where the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or clutter it may encounter. Also, keep the dustbin and filters clear to avoid getting blocked. When the i3+'s internal bin is full or the battery is depleted it will return to its docking station and automatically empties its debris into the station's external dustbin and continues cleaning where it began. The battery's life span is approximately an hour-and-a-half of continuous use. It takes three hours to charge.

2. IRobot Roomba i7+
The iRobot i7+ is an excellent model from iRobot's flagship line and comes with the latest features. It is self-charging and self-navigating. However, the most significant feature is the self-emptying bin. This removes the need for regular maintenance.
The Roomba I7+ is able to map rooms more efficiently with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also works with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning tasks and control your robot using voice or via the app.
The i7+ is more efficient and more maneuverable in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also removed large pet hair pieces from all surfaces including carpeting. Its greatest advantage over the Eufy is its self-emptying bin which eliminates major sources of maintenance and lowers the cost of recurring maintenance.
We were also awestruck by the i7+'s integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services that we used to instruct the robot to start, stop or pause its cleaning routines and to move around the room and vacuum the area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. Once connected, we were able to communicate with the i7+ using voice commands such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options for managing the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
In a world filled with cordless vacs that feel like minivans or buses, this tiny Dyson model feels like an automobile. It is powerful enough to replace a stand-up vacuum in the majority of homes, yet it is also small enough to fit on a bookcase or coffee table.
The V10 is powered by a 7-cell high-energy lithium-ion battery that can provide continuous, non-fading power for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filter system is able to trap allergens and then releases fresh air into your home. The cleaning head is specially designed to drive bristles made of nylon that are stiff into carpet to collect large dust and crumbs. It comes with three suction settings to match the task at hand. It is able to swiftly change from handheld to floor vacuum and vice versa.
The model also comes with a dock that charges to 100% in about 3.5 hours and provides easy access to two attachments and the wand clip. This is a significant improvement over older Dysons which require a long charge and are difficult to store.
The biggest issue with the V10 is its short run time. As CR's tests show, its advertising claims of up to 60 minutes are a bit misleading. This is a standard, not exceptional, battery-powered vacuum's run time. It's enough time to clean the average-sized home however, it's not enough time to get into every corner. (A second run generally works). However, this model isn't a good choice It's lighter and more mobile than the older cordless Dysons and its vacuuming performance is noticeably superior on carpets with a low pile.
4. iRobot Roomba 694
The 694 is a standard robot vacuum that's a great option for those who don't have lots of money to invest in the latest model of robot. It could pick up most types of debris and sizes in our testing and often went over the same area several times to ensure an extensive clean. Its flat front side helps it to reach into corners and along the edges of walls which is a nice feature.
Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate your home, but it isn't equipped with the ability to map that comes with more sophisticated models such as our top selections and the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. It may get stuck on phone cords or furniture and will often run out of power before returning to its home base.
The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in many ways, as it has fewer parts that need regular cleaning and is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, incurs lower recurring costs, comes with more advanced automation capabilities and is more efficient in maneuvering itself. It also has a larger dustbin and charges quicker.
The sleek RoboVac X8 has a superior battery life than the Roomba 694. It also comes with physical boundaries strips and can be controlled by the voice assistant on your smartphone. It's also more durable, has a stronger motor, and can perform better on floors with bare or low-pile.

In our testing our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and dealt with dog hair (on carpet) very well, picking up 86 percent of it. However, it wasn't particularly well at avoiding larger objects, like cords and socks which was disappointing. robot vacuum cleaner 's also a bit more expensive than the other models we tried, which might be a problem for some buyers.
The app lets you access the camera onboard of the smart vacuum. You can also create live streaming from the robot's cleaning zone. This feature lets you check in on your pets or children while you are away. The dustbin and the filter can be washed for the quick and easy cleaning. The Jet Bot AI+ also comes with a clean station that self-empties to keep the robot's trash bin clean and optimizes its suction power for each cleaning.
6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum
In contrast to other robotic vacuums which are designed for both carpets and hard floors, Black and Decker robots are specifically designed for hard floors. They come with a wide cleaning path and an extra-large dustbin that holds 2X more debris than other models to keep the cleaning area clean for the longest time. In addition, they have two side sweepers to clean up around edges and in corners. The POWERSERIES Extreme model also includes AutoSense technology, which senses the presence of dirt or debris on the surface and then automatically adjusts the power level. It also includes a smart application that lets you see the virtual map and manage the functions and schedules. The app allows you to customize the LED lights on top of the vacuum using different colors, so that you can clearly see which areas it's focused on or where it's got stuck.
The app also makes it easy to steer the robot manually if needed. My living room rug for example has a dark-colored border that could cause trouble for other robots. The HRV 425BL, however continued to travel across the border without registering the high point. The ability to set up the weekly cleaning schedule is a wonderful time-saving benefit.
